Peter Anthony
Cruz
November 13, 1964 – October 16, 2022
Peter (Pete) Anthony Cruz was called to Heaven on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the young age of 57. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Louise and Merced Cruz, Jr; maternal grandparents, Concepcion and Tom Trevino; and paternal grandparents, Herminia and Merced Cruz.
Peter is loved and will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Diana Cruz; daughter, Priscilla Cruz; son-in-law, Armando Vasquez; grandchildren, Sophya and Armando Vasquez, Jr.; brothers and sisters: Thomas (Irma) Cruz; Samuel (Maria) Cruz; Mary Elizabeth Cruz; Gerald (Elfida) Cruz; sister-in-law, Grace Castro DeJesus (Martin); "second mom", Katie Marie Talamantes; aunt, Angela (Helen) Jimenez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Peter was born and raised on the south side of San Antonio and graduated from Burbank High School. He attended St. Phillip's College in pursuit of an Associate's degree in Automotive Technology. Pete was employed in the automobile industry in various positions and enjoyed his craft immensely. Needless to say, Pete's passion was working on cars. He was known as the family mechanic…fixing vehicles for not only family members but for his friends and neighbors as well. He was the brother and uncle we all called upon for all our automotive needs and questions.
Pete was the type of person who made friends easily. He was very much a loving, family man who enjoyed taking his family to the beach and going out to eat. Most of all, Peter's pride and joy were his grandkids; he absolutely loved spending time with them. He enjoyed listening and dancing to Tejano and country western music. He even enjoyed watching "novellas" with his wife during quiet evenings. Peter also loved to cook, especially for large gatherings and parties. We never needed to hire a caterer…he was our "volunteer caterer"!
