In Loving Memory of Petra Reta

August 1, 1931 – August 11, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Petra Reta, who entered eternal rest on August 11, 2026, at the age of 95.

Petra was born on August 1, 1931, in Poth, Texas, to Genaro and Avelina Reyes. She was known for her devotion to her faith and family. Petra was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, proud great-grandmother, treasured great-great-grandmother, and friend to many.

Throughout her life, Petra enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing music, and being involved with her church. She especially cherished time spent with family and friends and will always be remembered for the laughter and special moments she shared with her family during the holidays.

Petra is survived by her children, David Reta and his wife, Yolanda; Ida Reta; and Susan Molina; and her beloved grandchildren, Yevtt Olveda and her husband, Derek; Daniel Suarez and his wife, Diana; Crystal Rodriguez; Thomas Suarez and his wife, Margarita; Avangelin Reta; Adam Reta; Susie Flores and her husband; George Reta; Michael Reta and his wife, Julie; Steven Reta; Elizabeth and her husband; Joseph Reta; Patricia Vasquez and her husband, Roger; Timothy Reta and his wife; and Chris Reta Jr. She is also survived by her 39 great-grandchildren, as well as her great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Genaro and Avelina Reyes; her beloved husband, George T. Reta; her sons, Chris Reta and Bernard Michael Reta; and her grandchildren, Anthony Reta and Jennifer Reta.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, beginning at 4:00 PM at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen Dr., San Antonio, TX 78228, allowing family and friends to gather, pay their respects, and honor Petra's memory.

The final viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 8:00 AM, followed by a procession to the church. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM.

Following the church service, a funeral procession will proceed to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, where Petra will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband at 1:00 PM.

Although Petra will be deeply missed, her love, memories, and legacy will continue to live on through everyone whose life she touched.

Forever loved. Forever remembered.
