Obituary

Phillip 'Martha' DeLeon went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2022, at the age of 32.

Martha was born on February 16, 1990, in San Antonio, Texas, to Elizabeth and Felipe DeLeon. Martha and her three siblings, Libby, Anita, and Raymond were raised in a loving and nurturing environment that would lay the foundation for the incredible life she lived.

Her innate knowledge of who she truly was allowed her to transition into the woman many loved so dearly. Martha was brave, fearless, and an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community. She was an energetic activist who worked at the Alamo Area Resource Center as a Prevention Specialist. Martha also worked at the Alamo Drafthouse as a server and in the box office where she enjoyed the fresh smell of popcorn and the guests' reactions to the excitement of a timeless night at the cinema. Her energetic, fun, and attractive personality made for a perfect fit at Chuck E. Cheese where she spent time as a server and runner; if Martha was a part of the experience it was guaranteed to be memorable.

Martha truly enjoyed the company of others, she was an outstanding gamer and just like in the physical world she enjoyed bonding experiences, sharing a common goal in each game she played. She loved anime finding desirable traits like confidence, determination, and a positive attitude between herself and the characters. In addition to anime Martha loved the Asian culture, especially the experience of Asian cuisines.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversation, making someone smile, feeling hopeful for the future of those she knew. Her capacity for generosity knew no bounds as she would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. She will be remembered for so much during her short time in this world; a best friend to her mother Elizabeth, an incredible sister, and an inspiration to all who knew her. She truly loved when family and friends would get together for holidays and special occasions. Those moments exist now in our memories and will be cherished and remembered forever. Martha was our shining star, that faded to soon and while her life must come to an end, her love, and legacy lives on.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Balentine Garza; fraternal grandparents, Raymond, and Lucia DeLeon; aunt, Deborah Ann Vasquez.

She is survived by her parents, Felipe DeLeon, and Elizabeth Garza DeLeon; siblings, Libby D. Aleman (Jeremiah), Anita DeLeon Hernandez (Joseph), and Raymond DeLeon; nieces and nephews, Emmy, Liam, Isaiah, Lydia, Angelica, Maggi, and Alyssa; in addition to many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Chapel Service to begin at 6:00 pm.
