Obituary

Phillip S. Settles was called home on Saturday January 25, 2025 at the age of 67. Phillip was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 27, 1957 to father Daniel N. Settles and Urbana Sanchez Settles. He was the third oldest child of five children and loved his big sisters while building life-long best friends in his brothers. During his childhood he served as an altar boy for the catholic church which established the spiritual foundation he carried with him throughout his life.

Phillip graduated from Holmes High School in 1976 and joined the navy shortly after making his parents and siblings proud. He served our country for 6 years as a naval aircraft mechanic. After his military service, he served the community in several roles such as security officer, mechanic, and remodeled the homes of his fellow deserving citizens. He enjoyed the outdoors to include fishing and camping with his children. Phillip's joy for life was evident through his sense of humor and boisterous laugh that captivated everyone he came in contact with. He was often described as the life of the party. Phillip's idea of a good time was relaxing with a good drink and listening to oldie-but-goodies, rock-n-roll, Tejano music and Johnny Cash.

Phillip is proceeded  in death by his father Daniel N. Settles and Urbana S. Settles He is loved and will be missed by his sisters Helen Medina (Juan), Amanda Cook (William); brothers Victor Settles, Simon Settles (Dellanira); sons Phillip Hernandez, Phillip Settles Jr.; daughters Brandy Luna, Phyllis Settles, Savannah Settles, Jaelynn Rios (Julian); daughter Stephanie Garza (Raul), numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The world has lost a great son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather.
