Obituary

Pilar Castaneda of West Sacramento, CA, born February 9, 1953, to Pilar and Maria Bravo Castaneda, in Mexico, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at the age of 67. Pilar was a veteran of the US Air Force and retired from Amtrak Railroad. Pilar's love of writing excelled him into a career as an author.  His first book was published in 2005 with much success and support from his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Esther Martinez (Ramon); brother, Federico Castaneda (Terry), and brother, Luciano Castaneda. He is survived by his siblings, Joe Castaneda (Sylvia), Maria Reyes (Marcelo), Kelly Timmerman (Bob), Juana Castaneda, and Gloria Mata (David); and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be at Castillo Mission Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 19, from 3 to 7:30pm with a rosary being recited at 6pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Timothy Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 20 at 9:30am. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.
