RACHEL MONTOYA ELIZONDO    April 6, 1942 – May 14, 2025

Rachel was born in San Antonio on April 6, 1942, and entered into rest on May 14, 2025, at the age of 83. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joaquin and Elida Montoya, and her sister Lilly Hernandez.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Arturo Elizondo Sr; children, Arturo (Elisa) Elizondo Jr, Esther Elizondo, and Monica Elizondo; grandchildren, Jason (Christine) Lavoie, Jessica (Orlando) Torres, Ariana (Antonio) Berrios, Aaron Elizondo, Yvonne (Ernest) Carrillo, Ruben (Kristalynn) Escobedo Jr: and 9 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by brothers, Joaquin (Rosario) Montoya Jr, Ernest (Mary) Montoya Sr, Albert (Vinita) Montoya Sr, Salvador (Gloria) Montoya, sisters Rebecca Alvarez, Lupe Gonzalez, Beatrice (Jose) Sanchez, Rose Marie Reyna, and Veronica (Albert) Luna, numerous nephews, nieces, a large extended family and community of friends who loved her dearly

Rachel attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church but was also active at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, was a member of the Madres Cristianas, and had lived her Cursillo De Cristiandad over 45 years ago. Rachel's life was a strong reflection of her unwavering Catholic faith.

Rachel was a devoted mother, grandmother, loving daughter, cherished sister, aunt, and friend. Always ready to help out anyone who needed her. She was an exceptional mother to her special needs daughter, Esther. Never excluding Esther from anything, and always attending to her every need.

Let us remember Rachel for the remarkable person that she was, the people she touched, and the beautiful legacy she left behind.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a rosary at 6:00 pm, at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. Gen McMullen Road, San Antonio, TX 78228.

On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 9:30 am, a procession will depart Castillo Funeral Home for a 10:00 am Mass of the Resurrection at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 314 Merida Street, San Antonio, TX 78207.

Burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, TX 78237.
