Rafael Q. Medina Jr. passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas and surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was born October 18, 1958, in Spur, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Rafael P. Medina and Herminia Quintanilla Medina and brother Arturo Medina. Rafael is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Rosemary Bishop Medina, daughter's Veronica (Henry) Bocanegra, Jennifer (Gino) Suarez, Son Rafael B. (Kimberly) Medina, sister Mary Lou Cabrera, sisters-in-law Sandra, Norma, Melinda, Christina, and brothers-in-law.
Rafael will be missed by his grandchildren Rene, Joshua, Angelina B., Abigail, Gabriela, Isabella, Daniela, Angelina M., and Christian; great- grandchildren Nova and Luna and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Rafael is a graduate of Lanier High School, class of 1977. He worked for Pepsi Co. for 37 years and later retired to enjoy time with family. He treasured all the beautiful memories he created with his family. He enjoyed fishing, playing slot machines, watching wrestling and barbecuing. He also loved to travel and take road trips to Casinos with family and friends.
He is remembered for always being full of joy and bringing laughter to everyone with his jokes. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Rafael impacted the lives of many, deeply loved and respected. Rafael will be remembered forever and missed tremendously by all those who knew him.
Visitation to take place at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen San Antonio, Texas 78228, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to begin at 6:00 p.m. Family and friends will depart at 9:30 a.m. in procession on Thursday, May 2, 2024 for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1321 El Paso St., 78207. Services to conclude after mass.
