Rafaela Perez Martinez, beloved mother and grandmother was called to be with the Lord on January 14, 2022, at the age of 80.  She was born in San Fernando, Tamaulipas and raised in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.  She is preceded in death by her parents, names unknown, husband; Benjamin R. Martinez, son; Benjamin Martinez, Jr, granddaughter; Vanessa Marie Martinez. She is survived by her 2 daughters; Sarah P. Cavazos and Leticia Martinez, and her 6 grandchildren who she adored very much; Alexander Martinez, Isaac Martinez, Abel Benjamin Garza., Tai Cavazos, Isabella Garza and Mia Cavazos, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rafaela enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and always made sure they had food in their tummy.  She made the best fresh brewed iced tea.  She loved watching her Spanish novelas with her sweet bread and coffee.  She had a compassionate spirit and shared her wisdom with all those around her.  She was the most loving sweetest mother and grandmother that anyone could ever have.  She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Her celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a prayer service to be recited at 6:00 pm at Castillo Mission Funeral Home.
