Ralph Lopez Jr., age 93, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, in San
Antonio, Texas. Born on September 9, 1932, in San Antonio, Ralph spent his
entire life in the city he cherished and called home.
Ralph's helping nature led him to work at a very young age to help his family.
Before age 10 he had a paper route and worked at a corner grocery store.
During his teen years he worked at HEB. After that he graduated from Fox
Tech. While at Tech he was active in ROTC and enjoyed Drafting.
After high school he enlisted in the Air Force and was active duty from 1950
to 1955. He was assigned to the 6932nd Communications Security Squadron.
He was honorably discharged and received 4 medals: Good Conduct Medal,
National Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and H.H. Service Medal. After
his military service he was a long time Civil servant at Kelly Air Force Base.
Ralph was a man of diverse talents and interests. He found great joy in the
outdoors, especially through camping,fishing and cycling. His adventurous
spirit inspired him to explore new destinations through travel. Known for his
resourcefulness, Ralph took pride in fixing and building items, always eager to
tackle new projects. He also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with friends and
family.
Ralph's generosity and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on
those who knew him. Whether offering support or lending a hand, he touched
many lives with his kind and giving nature.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice and mother and father
Ralph and Rose Lopez. He is survived by 3 daughters, Vanessa Flores
(husband Hector and 2 daughters; Yvette Warren (husband Roland and 2 sons
and Roxanne Alvarez (Widow and 2 sons) Also sisters Rose Gutierrez and
Gloria Larson, as well as his brother, Bill Lopez. He is also survived by
grandchildren who lovingly called him popo Jamin and wife Bryn, Justin and
wife Angel, Alaina and fiance Andrew, Katrina and husband Adrian, Noah and
Aaron. Great grandchildren Gabriel, Saleh, Sibley, Earnest, and Hope.
A Visitation Gathering will be held on March 24, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00
PM at Castillo Funeral Home, located at 520 N. General McMullen Drive in
San Antonio. A Funeral Service will follow on March 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM
at the same location with procession to follow a
to San Fernando #3.
