Ramon Sanchez
Vasquez
August 1, 1946 – November 4, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Ramon Sanchez Vasquez, who was called to eternal rest on November 4, 2024 at the age of 78. The third of 4 children, Ramon was born in Aldama, Guanajuato, MX on August 1, 1946 to Miguel Vasquez and Josephina Espinoza. He passed away in the comforts of his home in Poteet, TX.
He is preceded in death by his father Miguel Vasquez, his mother, Josephina Espinoza, his brothers, Tomas Vasquez and Guadalupe Espinoza. He is survived by his six children and their spouses; Michael Vasquez (Claudia), Velma Ledesma (Rudy), Rachel Vasquez, Raymond Vasquez, Carmen Castillo (Richard), and Mark Vasquez, siblings; Juanita Borrego (Ruben); twenty-one grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and ex-wife of 23 years, and mother of his children, Rebecca Vasquez.
Hard working, resilient, disciplined, loving, and wise are just a few of the words that describe our Dad. His life was a testament to his hard work and dedication. He was a devoted father who was always there to lend a helping hand, or just to listen and provide words of wisdom when we needed it. He was always a protector, our safe space. He was a proud and doting grandpa who had a way of making each child feel heard and supported. His rough calloused hands, shaped by years of hard work, were equally soft and gentle when he held his grandchildren. He was a simple man who found joy in simply sitting outside, listening to music, and enjoying the day.
He proudly served his country for 3 years in the US Army as a Combat Engineer with a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and awarded with the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Thank you for your service.
His presence was a gift and his legacy will live on in the values he instilled in each of us. His memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were honored to have had the privilege of knowing him. We shall find comfort and peace in knowing that he will be watching over us, protecting us, and guiding us just as he did throughout his life.
We rejoice in knowing your burdens have been lifted. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. WE LOVE YOU!
He Only Takes the Best
God saw that he was getting tired, a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around him and whispered, "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer, and saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes "the best".
