Raquel
Jensen
December 29, 1933 – March 24, 2024
Raquel Jensen (née Garcia), born on December 29, 1933, was called home to be with our Lord on March 24, 2024, at the age of 90.
She is reunited in heaven with her parents Agapito and Cenobia Garcia, her sister Mary Garcia and brothers Guadalupe (Carlota) and Trinidad Garcia (Olivia).
Raquel is survived by her loving and devoted sisters Antonia and Horalia Garcia; her children Gilbert Jensen (Patricia), Shirley Sanchez, Maria Jensen-Garibay (Randy), and Kathryn Cardenas (Michael). She is also survived by her granddaughters Nova, Bella, and Patricia (John) along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was a dedicated employee at Kelly A.F.B. for over 30 years. She received numerous awards and accolades. After retirement, she continued working in different capacities. She was a devoted contributor to United Way, a strong Red Cross ambassador and regular donor for blood drives. Mama was a caring, loving, and empathetic woman that taught her children the importance of giving and caring for those in need. She taught her children to be civic-minded and made sure to vote in every election.
Mama was good at so many things including cooking, baking, and gardening. She loved going to her monthly bunco gatherings with her friends…more to socialize than about winning. She was born and raised in the Catholic faith and was inclusive, open-minded, and shared her heart with everyone. She loved to laugh, listen to a variety of music, watch her favorite TV shows, work on her word searches, and talk to her friends and family daily. She prayed the rosary every day and recited the Lord's Prayer nightly with her granddaughters. Mama would text her children and family a blessing every morning…until she couldn't. We already miss those daily blessings.
She also loved the people who cared for her at the end of her life including her caregiver and friend, Diana Perez, the Reliant Hospice team of Marcy Smith, RN, Kimberly Gallegos, CNA, Chaplain Letty Huerta and numerous others that were called on to care for her. This team of "angels" treated mama with respect, love and kindness and we will forever be indebted to them.
