Raul Romo Jr. passed away on September 21, 2021 at the age of 44. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 7, 1976. He grew up on the west side and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1995. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. His time in the Army was short, but he enjoyed it. He would always tell his children about the time he jumped from an airplane. He had dreamt of becoming an Army Ranger.
Raul's work ethic began at an early age. His first job was at the age of 15. He learned to be a hard worker from his parents. Any job he held, through-out his life, mattered. He always strived and did his best to be a good employee wherever he worked. His final job was with the Baptist Health System. He was dependable, flexible and thoughtful of others that he worked with. He valued the importance of having a job and providing for his family. He worked in various fields and learned lots of different things from the jobs he held.
Raul got married to Monica C. Gonzales on August 8, 2008. They were married for 13 years. They knew each other for over 20 years in total. They met at Santa Rosa hospital (Downtown), where they both worked at. He is the proud father of Gabrielle (14), Evan Michael (9), Devan Michael (6) and Jared Michael Meza (25). He also had a dog, Lucy, that he cared about very much. He loved the time that he had with his children. They were able to make him relax, laugh and just be silly. That was a side of him not too many got to see. He enjoyed working on his yard and lighting up his barbecue pit while listening to some music.
Though his life on Earth was brief, he was a very hard worker, good son and brother. The one job that was most dear to his heart was being a father to Gabrielle (Gaby), Evan (Mr. Moose), Devan (Devi) and Jared. He was a wonderful father, husband and an extremely good provider. He will forever be in our hearts, until we are all together again.
Raul is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Ladislada D. Romo and Juanita Zapata; father-in-law, Manuel R. Gonzales.
Raul is survived by his wife, Monica; daughter, Gabrielle; sons, Evan Michael, Devan Michael and Jared Michael Meza; parents, Raul Sr. and Maria; brother, Javier.
Raul will be tremendously missed by his family; in-laws; nephew; uncles; aunts; cousins; co-workers; friends and countless others. There will never be another like him, he was 'one of a kind' in our eyes. He will never be far from our thoughts. We will carry him with us throughout our lives.
