Obituary

Raymond Tagle Rodriguez Jr.

June 29, 1948-January 21, 2021

Raymond was a beloved husband and father. He was born on June 29th, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas, and was called to heaven on January 21, 2021, in San Antonio at the age of 72, while surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Tagle Rodriguez, Sr., his mother, Ernestina Garza Rodriguez, and his sister Libertad M. Villalobos. He is survived by his wife, Madgeline Kay Cluck, his son Raymond Tagle Rodriguez III, his daughter Robin Rodriguez, his sister, Josephine Dixon, his grandson Adrian Matthew Garcia, his stepdaughter Michelle Saldana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Raymond was a 1967 graduate of Lanier High School and was an avid Lanier football fan. He and his son, Ray hardly ever missed a game, and Ray and his son, Adrian will now carry on that tradition with Lanier and Holmes High School football games. He was also a fan of the Houston Astros and the Houston Texans. If you ever saw him, he was always wearing either logo on a hat or t-shirt. He always had to represent the best. He loved taking trips to casinos and playing the slot machines. He would save his quarters all year just so he could cash them in and play those savings at the casinos. Raymond was a fan of WWE professional wrestling and rarely missed watching Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown. Every time his daughter would ask about dinner on either night, he would respond "No, I'm watching Wrestling". It was that serious. He looked forward to watching The Young and the Restless every day at noon. If any plans were made during that time, he would tell us to wait until the show was over. Raymond also loved to cook Bar-B-Que for his family, he was on a mission to perfect the way he made ribs. He would tell Madge he found a new video on YouTube about cooking ribs and wanted to try it. Raymond loved listening to Tejano music and attending live band concerts at Market Square downtown and would always listen to the Hometown Boys on car rides.

Raymond was one the friendliest men you could meet. He always knew how to start a conversation and meet new people. He had a great sense of humor and knew how to have fun at a party. Everyone says they always made them laugh. He was happy to help his friends and family whenever they needed it. He had a morning routine of taking out the trash and taking out the neighbor's trash to the curb, so they did not have to worry about it. He would have a cup of coffee in his red Houston Texans cup. He would always give our cat, Kiki some cat treats while the coffee was brewing, she would greet him every morning to spend some time with him.

Raymond retired from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2006 after 26 years of service. He also worked part-time at the San Antonio Missions baseball games for many years. He would regularly stay there when his shift was over to hang out with his friends and drink a couple of cold ones.

The family will receive visitors at Castillo Missions Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen Dr., San Antonio, Texas on Friday, February 5th, 2021, from 3:00 to 7:30.

We will always love you. You will always be on our minds and forever in our hearts. We could not have asked for a better father or husband. Thank you for everything you have done for our family. You will be missed dearly.
