Rebeca Cluke
Garza
July 8, 1935 – January 12, 2025
Rebeca "Louie" Cluke Garza, 89, passed away peacefully in her childhood home on January 12, 2025. Born on July 8, 1935, her story came to a peaceful close in the place where it all began—San Antonio, Texas.
Louie was known for her strong work ethic, independence, dedication, and the quiet strength with which she approached every challenge. She lived life on her own terms, embracing obstacles with grace and determination. Fiercely independent, a trait she instilled in those she loved, she remained active and engaged throughout her long and fulfilling life. Whether tending to her beloved home, sharing sage advice, or offering quiet but powerful support, she left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
A passionate reader, Louie found joy and solace in the pages of books, always eager to expand her mind and heart. Later in life, she achieved a personal milestone by earning her GED, a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning and growth.
A woman of remarkable independence, Louie never married or had children, but her life was rich with purpose and love. She created her own unique family, touching the lives of many.
Louie was preceded in death by her mother, Leonor Cluke Garza; her father, Pedro Lerma Garza; and her siblings: David Garza, Benny Mena, Angelita Garza Zimmerlee, Alicia Colin, and Sally Garza Salinas. She is survived by her siblings Pete Garza, Albert Garza, and Pat Garza Maldonado; as well as her beloved nieces Sally Porter (husband Johnnie Porter), Dalia De La Garza-Adams (husband Randy Adams), and Barbara Suarez (husband Jesse Suarez) and their families: Calvin Lee Simmons, Montrell Simmons, Romeo Simmons, Marley Simmons, McLaren Simmons, Sarabi Simmons, Nala Simmons, Alice Simmons, Kameron Collins, Zoe Collins, Mark Perez, Noel Perez, Agent Perez, Alexis Suarez, Nathan Suarez, and Nicole Suarez.
Louie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of determination and passion for life will live on in the hearts of those she inspired. Rest in heavenly peace, Louie. You lived life on your own terms, and your story will never be forgotten.
