Rebecca M. Ramirez passed away peacefully on January 12, 2021. She was 91 years old and born in Walnut Springs, Texas on December 22, 1929. She was one of 12 sons and daughters born to Raquel Reyna and Sostenes Martinez.
Rebecca was a self-taught seamstress and restaurant business owner in her early adult life. With only a third grade education, Rebecca taught herself how to read and write the English language. She had an ambition unmatched and strived to be successful.
In the year 1944, at the age of 15, she met Hector Ramirez at a dance in Mexico. Years later, they reconnected and were married February 18, 1954. Together, they had four children, Ruth, Sara, Hector Jr., and Robert.
Rebecca retired to raise her children and enjoy her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling (specifically Las Vegas), and loved to play poker, bingo, and numerous card games. Rebecca spent her down time gardening, cooking and enjoyed watching her nighttime novelas.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her husband Hector Ramirez Sr. (1976), and her youngest son Robert Ramirez (2013).
Rebecca is loved and will be missed by her son Hector Ramirez Jr.; daughters, Ruth Ramirez (Fuentes) and Sara Ramirez (Rodriguez); grandchildren, Cynthia and Patricia Salazar; great grandchild, John Abram Salazar; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A special thank you to the pallbearers and friends/family who provided donations.
