Obituary

Rene' Roberto Caballero Rene' was the 6 th of 7 children born to Madeleine and Willie Caballero. Always an outdoors free spirit Rene' enjoyed being outdoors. He was happiest on his Harley, wearing a red bandana and letting the wind blow his ponytail. He loved riding out of the city whether to the beach, Texas hill country, and country roads and parks.

Rene' loved his family and friends and his dog Einstein. He was a father to 4 beautiful daughters, Rosette, Genie, Celine and Dawna. He loved them and felt the love they returned to him.

Rene' lived a vagabond life; there were consequences with the highs and lows, and he accepted it all. He loved hard but he loved Mom and Dad, his brother Bill, sisters, daughters and Einstein, his dog.

From Genie

My sister Rosette and I moved to California when we were very young. Although we did not have our Dad in our day to day lives, we always knew that he loved us. Writing each other was our main form of communication. It is there where I learned he had an awesome sense of humor, something I think I got from him (no offense, Mom). You always loved hearing updates on your grandsons Brandon and Dylan who both inherited Color Blindness from you! And you were so proud of your granddaughter Isla and all she has overcome. "Yup, she's a Caballero" is what you said.

I wish I had more memories with you, but the memories that I do have are very special. I have so much to tell you when we speak again. Forever in our hearts. Love Virginia "Genie" Renee Caballero

From Rosette

Thank you for life Dad, thank you for a free spirit that I believe I got from you. I can not express the gratitude I feel of having got to spend some time with you back in 2020. It was a great feeling walking beside you that day, it is a beautiful memory Lexi, Erik, Matthew and I will have forever and cherish. While you made it home so young, I believe God calls us home at the right time because it is his timing. Us here on Earth do not understand but one day I know we will. I love you and know that you will be forever missed. Sealed with a Kiss.

From Dawna

My Dad was free spirited and kindhearted. He taught me to be fearless. I remember I jumped off a 20-foot diving board at just 7 years old, while he was in the pool rooting for me. To this day I tackle any situation as if I were that 7-year-old girl looking down at her dad and jumping in.

From Celine

My dad was a hard-working guy who enjoyed the beach and doing anything as long as he was in good company. He was easy-going and one of the silliest people I've ever met. I think back during Fiesta one time when I was with Dawna and Aunt Janine at the Night Parade. I heard some crazy guy yelling "Those are my girls!" He would have walked the whole parade if he could. Dad was really supportive, he was competitive and wanted us to be good at anything and everything. He attended a soccer game of mine and I had a clear shot at the goal and I thought "There's no way I can miss this, Dad's here, well…I missed but it's a good memory that I will always carry with me.

Rene was a bighearted guy; all his cousins and siblings have great memories of time spent with him. He will be deeply missed by all.
