Obituary

Reynaldo Hinojosa,77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2023, in San Antonio Texas. He was born on September 15, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, a son of the late Lillie and Enrique Hinojosa.

Prior to his retirement he was employed at Kelly AFB but never actually retired as he always kept busy. His Family was his priority and he always made sure to show them just how much he loved them and was extremely proud of all the accomplishments and milestones of their lives. He would brag to all his neighbors about his kids and grandkids. All the sports, academic and career accomplishments they'd achieved were proudly displayed through Grandpa.

He loved his weekend visits with his son Rey where his son would help Reynaldo with little things that needed to be done. Weekly visits from his son included talks about the bible, watching whatever game was on, or listen to music and of course drinking a few beers. Reynaldo didn't drink throughout the week but when Rey was there, on weekends they would, that was of course after doing his weekly grocery shopping and other little errands. They would come back to relax, prepare some snacks and have a few, enjoying the company of each other.  He loved all his family but the weekend visits with his son Rey are what he especially enjoyed.  He was always very proud of all his children and grandchildren and was never afraid to show it.

Always ready for conversation, Reynaldo enjoyed talking politics, sports and BS with his family and friends, especially passionate about politics and sports. He also loved Nancy Pelosi and he would stand his ground "when provoked of course" with anyone if he didn't agree with. When he felt like they were pushing their views on him, he was not going to let anyone change his mind and would say, "I can see and read and form my own opinion" even if it wasn't the popular one. He loved sports, especially the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. The wonderful memories and traditions he created for his children that till this day are kept up with; times like Easter camping in Castroville Park, all of which were full of laughter, fun and love. He was known for his love of making holidays big, Christmas and Thanksgiving Day were always filled with good food and football.

The comradery he had with a special group of guys he would spend many Fridays with at Molly's Bar were times he looked forward too. The special friendships he gained while he was at the independent living apartments are bonds that meant so much to him. When news got out of his passing so many of the residents and office staff were paying their respects to the family. Each and every person with tears in their eyes said he was such a respectful man and how much they will miss him looking out his window drinking his coffee, talking to anyone who would pass.

He was passionate about important subjects in his life. He was loud at times, something that runs in the family, and was never afraid to live life exactly how he wanted. A father, grandfather, and friend who will be remembered forever by all who knew him until we meet again.

In addition to his parents Lillie and Enrique Hinojosa, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Abel Hinojosa and Lionel Hinojosa, son in law, Mark Anthony Nolty, and niece, Norma Jean Hinojosa.

Family members include his children, Ms. Susan V Nolty, Reynaldo Hinojosa Jr, and Evangeline Stout (Raymond); grandchildren, Christopher Ray Hinojosa, Victoria Raeann Rodriguez (Eloy), Clarissa Hope Stout, Zoe Emily Rose Nolty, Harley Ray Stout, Levi Leroy Stout, Mark Anthony Nolty II; great grandchildren, Eloy Rodriguez Jr, and Emmett Rodriguez; niece, Cathy Lee Hinojosa; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm for his memorial and a Chapel Service will be conducted at 5:00 pm.
