Obituary

Ricardo M. Herrera went to be with our lord on March 18, 2022, at the age of 67.

He is preceded in death by his father, Severo Herrera, mother, Anita Charles Martinez, siblings, Lorenzo M Herrera, George M Herrera, Ignacio M Herrera, Jose G Herrera, Josefa H Elizondo, Maria Lousia H Rodriguez, and Rita Herrera.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa G Herrera, children, Jennifer Martin (Natalie), Michelle Young, Tina Grigsby (Mark), Roberto Herrera, Jesse Cardenas, Valerie Garcia (Frankie), Sandra Cardenas, and Steven Cardenas, 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Teresa Salazar (Manuel), Jesse M Herrera, Carrie Valle (Joe), Irma Ortiz, and Refugia H Rodriguez, in addition to numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ricardo was born on June 25, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Severo and Anita Herrera. He accomplished so many incredible things in life. Ricardo and Theresa shared six amazing years of marriage which allowed the family to not only grow but become stronger together. He worked and retired from USD 253 School District in Kansas for 20+ years. Upon retirement he moved back home to San Antonio, Texas in 2015. Richardo will be remembered for his amazing cooking and ultimate BBQing. He loved cars and enjoyed the simple pleasures of being outside gardening and managing his lawn. Always ready to go, Ricardo enjoyed spending time traveling with his wife and family. A loyal Cowboys fan, the blue and white will always remind us of his team.

He inspired those around him to be a better person. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds as he was someone who would help anyone in need. Ricardo was a husband, father, and brother full of love, support, encouragement, and guidance. He truly loved spending time with all who knew him but especially his family. Those times exists now in our memories, and we will cherish those forever. He truly was devoted to his wife and family and brought immense joy to those around him. We loved his caring ways, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Words cannot express the feeling in our hearts. Thank you for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Your shared memories, comforting condolences and gestures of love are truly appreciated.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Chapel Service to begin at 6:00 pm. On Monday, April 4, 2022, a formal funeral procession will depart Casillo at 10:15 am for interment at Wildflower Cemetery.
