Ricardo Lopez went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2022, at the age of 79.

Ricardo was born at home on November 21, 1942, to the late Miguel and Luisa Macias Lopez. Growing up one of seven siblings, his early life was full of support, encouragement, and guidance. He graduated from Fox Tech High School. Ricardo served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. During his time with the U.S. Army, he was trained to become a skilled machinist and handyman serving in Greenland during those years.

Ricardo, a simple man, will be remembered by those who knew him as a hardworking and independent person. He was the proud father of his only daughter Sonya Torres and grandfather of Samantha Hernandez. He always did things his way, up until his very last day. Ricardo died peacefully, alone in the Lopez ancestral home with his two dogs Blanca and Pepper on the bed beside him. He was born in the same house in which he died, 79 years later.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel Lopez and Luisa Macias Lopez; brother, Mike Lopez and infant brother, Miguel Lopez; and a sister, Dolores Lopez Jimenez.

He is survived by his daughter, Sonya Torres; granddaughter, Samantha Hernandez; brother, Roberto Lopez; sisters, Janie Lopez Wehmeyer and Alice Almendarez; many nieces, nephews in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Chapel Service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 10:00 am. Following the service, interment will be held at San Fernando III Cemetery.
