Richard S. Martinez passed away November 22, 2020 at the age of 79 yrs old in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 17, 1941. He is preceded in death by his dearly departed parents, Librado and Maria Martinez, his brother Librado Lee Martinez Jr., his grandson Daniel Sullivan Leza, his great nephew Michael Martinez Jr., and his great-great nephew London Martinez. He is loved and will be missed by his spouse of 42 years, Micaela G. Martinez. Richard is survived by his children Richard C. Martinez, Daniel G. Martinez, Lisa Garcia, David John Garcia (Margie), Bonnie Mahoney (Shane), and Patricia Garcia (Presley); Grandchildren Melissa Favela (Roger), Savanna Torres (Artie), Brian Mahoney, Crisalyn Mahoney, Danielle Martinez, Juliann Gutierrez (Eric), Charline Gutierrez (Jorge), Abraham Pena, Victoria Pena (Johnny), Justine Berlanaga (Matthew), Justin Alvarado, David Garcia Jr., Ramiro Jr. Garcia, and Chicago Garcia; Great- grandchildren Gabriel Reynosa, Elijah, Johnny Jr., Eriann, Eric Jr., Emylee, Mason, Davina, Josiah, Domonicc, and Davidjoe, Akio Riley Cabanes Mahoney; Great great-grandchildren Gianna Reynosa and Gabriel Anthony Reynosa Jr.; Sibilings Clemente Martinez (Carmen), and Jimmy Martinez, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Richard's previous employers were Aztec Fence Company, Allied Fence Company, Miller Curtain Company, DataPoint Corporation, Adtec Detention Systems, and Southwest Research Institute.
Richard was an avid San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys fan and he always enjoyed watching his teams play on television. As a hobby, he also loved playing music and listening to his favorite musicians: Little Joe y la Familia, Stevie Nicks, Liberty Band, Freddy Fender, and the Eagles.
The family will be receiving friends and loved ones for visitation on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a Funeral Service (Rosary) at 6:00 pm. Family and friends will meet for a graveside service at San Jose Burial Park cemetery, Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 9:30 am.
