Ricky Dwayne Hicks, known to most as Rick, passed away on March 26. 2026 in San Antonio, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer, born on October 10,1961 in Anchorage Alaska. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents OC and Lula Mae Hicks. He was also preceded in death his oldest brother Elvin Burns.
Ricky lived a full life marked by hard work. He was a proud graduate of John Jay High School and had a black belt with the United States Taekwondo Academy. He started working as a Respiratory Therapist, which was not his passion, then went to work for Blue Bell ice cream for 25 years. After leaving Blue Bell he found his passion for working in the oil fields. Among his other passions were driving trucks, fishing, and watching tv. He loved going to Corpus Christi on the water and the beach. He also loved watching the San Antonio Spurs. He had a warm and infectious sense of humor that drew people to him wherever he went. He leaves behind to cherish his memories of his sister Jacqueline (Bobby) Fears, niece Cheryl (Torace) Ingram and multiple other nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and former coworkers.
