Robert Michael
Bell
April 14, 1983 – November 4, 2021
Robert Michael Bell was born April 14, 1983, in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania. Robert passed into the Lord's arms on November 4th, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas, at the young age of 38.
Robert is reunited with his paternal grandmother, Treva "Mammaw" Bell, and his maternal grandfather, Juan "Superman" Rayos along with his beloved Aunt Linda together with other dearly missed family members.
He leaves behind his wife, Sophia (Perez) Bell; his children: Sarya Bell, Tianna Bell, and Robert Bell Jr.; granddaughter Emily Perez (Sarya); his parents, Rebecca Longoria and William Bell; his sister, Iris (Bell) Alfaro, as well as many other adored family members as he was blessed with a large blended family.
Robert moved to San Antonio, Texas, in 1985 at the age of 2 with his parents after his father was stationed in Pennsylvania with the Navy. His parents always joked that they "brought the snow with them" from Pennsylvania regarding the record-breaking amount of snow that fell upon Texas that year.
His relationship with Christ began from a very early age as he attended Pre-K through 2nd grade at Valley-Hi Nazarene Christian School. Later in life Robert and his wife continued to grow their relationship with Christ and shared this bond with their children.
Over the years, Robert proved to be quite the collector. At a young age, he enjoyed collecting baseball and basketball cards, pogs, and coins. Throughout his teenage years and into adulthood, Robert collected movies, shoes, and hats. This later progressed into a love and adoration for plants, especially his baby succulents. This appreciation of plants can be attributed to the countless times Robert spent gardening with his Aunt Linda or weed picking with his Grandpa "Superman". Those close to Robert express feelings of happiness at hearing of Robert's admiration for his cherished plants, and how he wished for their proper care and development.
Robert always enjoyed playing basketball, whether it was with friends until the streetlights came on, or with family as the sun set. As an adult and father, he enjoyed playing with his son and expressed how he looked forward to watching his son play for a middle school team as he once did. Robert was an avid SPURS fan, along with his loving wife, and together they passed down their love for the team to their children. Robert was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, always supporting the team through thick and thin, win or lose.
Throughout high school, Robert participated in ROTC. Both he and his parents expressed great pride in his accomplishments. Although Robert had many different trades throughout his years, he finally found his passion as a Fire Safety Sprinkler Operator. Robert took pride in his career and looked with hope to his future accomplishments. Seeing Robert's face light up with joy when talking about his profession made his family rejoice at his newfound passion.
Robert loved all things outdoors, especially if there was water involved. A few of his favorite places were "The River" (Trinity,Tx), Canyon Lake, Camp Riverview, "The Beach", The Frio and local pools. He enjoyed camping, skipping rocks, barbecuing, and sitting around the fire with friends and family; along with a good old fashioned fish fry.
Robert's most prominent pride and joy was his family. Robert and Sophia first met in elementary school and began dating as seniors in high school. Together they've spent the last 21 years making memories and strengthening their unbreakable bond. His wife recalls how they shared the same values and had so much in common, stating it was like "they could read each other's minds," which allowed them to nourish and grow their beautiful family. The thing they enjoyed doing most was going on road trips together. They shared this tradition with their children, with their first family road trip to Trinity, Tx to visit Aunt Linda at "The River", many fun trips in between including to New Orleans, La, and a lovely final trip to Fort Clark, Brackettville,Tx, to enjoy family and visit by the pool.
Robert was a loving and committed father to his children always. Aside from being a wonderful father, Robert was also great with children that were not his own. He was known to make jokes, play games, and participate in lots of fun roughhousing. Being the strong man he was, most would surrender to his playful actions, however, his son learned to turn the tables and enjoyed watching his dad surrender to him instead. His son, Robby, recounts how every evening he and his father enjoyed watching movies and shows together such as Dr. Pimple Popper and Pawn Stars. They also loved to eat ice cream together. His second-eldest daughter, Tianna, reminisces how she and her father shared many of the same interests such as basketball and shoes. The thing they related to the most was their love of music. His eldest daughter, Sarya, inherited the daredevil trait that Robert was known for as a child, as evidenced by them both breaking their arms as children. It appears his granddaughter, Emily, is also a bit of a thrill seeker as she loved her Grandpa Robert to toss and swing her about.
The people who were lucky enough to get to know Robert past his tough exterior were blessed. He was a big, burly guy who gave himself the nickname "Ro-Bear" after having a few drinks on New Year's Eve 2008 at "The River" which made for a highly memorable night. He gave the absolute best bear hugs, and his family and friends will miss him daily. Robert touched the lives of many people throughout his short life. He will continue to impact the lives of others through the selfless gift of organ donation, where he will live on as a HERO.
A visitation for Robert will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 , at Castillo-Mission Funeral Home from 1:00pm to 5:00pm with a balloon release to follow.
