Obituary

Robert Butler Brown, age 97 years old, surrounded by love, went home to be with his heavenly Father.

Robert was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Butler and Lessie Brown. He was the oldest of four children and joined the Navy at a young age of 19, serving the United States of America for 20 years.

As Chief Petty Officer, he communicated the command's goals and directions to the enlisted workforce while extensively traveling throughout the United States as well as overseas.

After retiring from the Navy, Robert worked with Mainframe computers as a programmer and eventually transitioned into the field of sales.

Throughout his life, Robert enjoyed reading his favorite Book, the Bible.  He also enjoyed attending church, serving on several Boards throughout his community, traveling, sharing words of wisdom, training dogs and serving up his delicious barbeque.

In 1952, while still enlisted in the Navy, Robert married the love of his life, Lois Marie Wade, in a Chapel located in San Francisco, California.  They were married for 68 years and blessed with four daughters.

Robert and Lois spent majority of their years together in Illinois. However, in 2018 they moved from Homewood, Illinois to Helotes, Texas, where they lived with their son-in-law Reginald, daughter Danita, and granddaughter Corinthian.

Robert was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Lois, his parents Butler and Lessie, his younger sister Deloris (John Sr. deceased) brother Donald (Margaret) and his oldest daughter

Lolita Dejene.

He is survived by two sisters,

Vivian and Verline (Mitchell deceased);

brother-in-law

Sgt. William Wade Jr. (Glennie deceased);

three daughters

Cerita Ethridge (Robert deceased); Veda Brown; and Danita Ewesuedo (Reginald);

his grandchildren,

Mengustu Dejene (Antoinette) Donald Brown Sr., Melaku Dejene (Dominique), Anthony Chambers, Sr. (Joann) and Corinthian Ewesuedo;

and his great-grandchildren,

Donald, Dominick, Zion, Dash, Ravi, Isabel and Anthony as well as a host of additional, loving family and friends.

Robert was a God-fearing, devoted husband and father who will be deeply missed. Now, he is reunited with his loving wife Lois.

The Family gratefully acknowledges all expressions of love and condolences during our time of bereavement.  Your kindness has deeply touched our hearts and will forever be remembered.

God Bless.

I WON'T COMPLAIN

I've had some good days,

I've had some hills to climb.

I've had some weary days,

And sleepless nights

But when I look around,

And when I think things over,

All of my good days,

Outweigh my bad days,

I won't complain

Sometimes the clouds are low

I can hardly see the road

I ask a question Lord

Lord, why so much pain?

But he knows what's best for me

Although my weary eyes

They can't see

So I'll just say thank you Lord

I won't complain
