Roberto “Bobby” Rosales Martinez, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 16, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas, Bobby was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He proudly served in the Army National Guard and found great joy in gardening, working outdoors, and spending time with those he loved. Bobby was known for his warm heart, generous spirit, and welcoming nature. No one ever left his home hungry—his table was always filled with food, snacks, laughter, and love. He had a special gift for making everyone feel like family.

Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved son Rene Martinez, parents, Fidela and Cardulo Martinez; his brothers, George and Rudolpho Martinez, and sister, Lily Gongora.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Maria Elena “Helen” Martinez; his children, Roberto Martinez Jr. (Margie), Rodney Martinez (Salma), Rosanne McClendon (Greg - deceased), Randall Martinez (Jennifer), and Ruben Martinez (Patsy); his brother, Gilbert Martinez; and his sister, Jo Ann Martinez (Terry). He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Bobby will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His kindness, generosity, unwavering love for his family, and the countless memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

One of Bobby’s favorite Bible verses was John 14:2:

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”

This comforting promise of eternal life beautifully reflects the faith that sustained him and the lasting legacy of love, hospitality, and devotion he leaves with his family and friends.
