Rodolfo R. Resendez (Rudy), born on March 23, 1953, went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2026 at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents Emilio Resendez Sr. and Margie R. Resendez, and his brother Robert Resendez. He is survived by his son John H. Martinez, daughter Felicia Resendez, sister Margie R. Ybarra, brothers Emilio Resendez Jr. and wife Laura, David Resendez and wife Janie, and brother Albert Rodriguez. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Graciela Rodriguez, Antonio Rodriguez and wife Cindy, Candy Villarreal and husband Alfred, Robert Resendez Jr and wife Irene, Lorraine Fernandez, Patricia Ann Hudson, Denise Bergen and husband Marco, Paula Guerra and husband Gilbert, Priscilla Roberson and husband Don. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Rudy played football and ran track at Rhodes Middle School and also at Lanier High School. He graduated from Lanier in 1972 and joined the United States Coast Guard. After his honorable discharge in 1976, he worked at Kelly Field.  As a result of an auto accident in 1982, he became disabled and unable to work. Therefore, he retired with disability from Kelly.

Rudy lived with his parents and enjoyed spending time with his siblings. For a long time, he was able to get around using a cane. One of his favorite pastimes was shooting pool in a league with Emilio and friends. After his parents passed away, his sister Margie became his primary caregiver, along with help from her daughter Gracie. Emilio and Margie took Rudy to all his doctors' appointments at Audie Murphy VA Hospital. Until a few years ago, Rudy was able to get around using a walker and later a wheelchair.

Despite his disability, Rudy was overall a happy person. He was always glad to see his family members who visited. He liked to joke around and had an infectious laugh. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

We want to thank the doctors and medical staff at Audie Murphy VA Hospital as well as the staff at Nightingale Hospice for their exceptional care. We are also grateful to everyone who has kept our family in their prayers.
