Rodolfo Roberto
Rodriguez
November 22, 1941 – October 31, 2022
Rodolfo Roberto Rodriguez went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 31, 2022, at the age of 81.
Rodolfo was born on November 22, 1941, in Mexico to his biological parents then later adopted, blending him into families with no shortage of love and support. He found the love of his life in Carmen Reyes Rodriguez and together they shared a 54-year adventure and marriage together. He adored his most precious gifts from the Lord, his children, Robert, Rudy, Tammy, and Ralph whom he loved more than words can express.
Rodolfo was a proud member of the armed services who served his country with the highest dignity. First with the United States Air Force, then transferring to the United States Air Force Reserves, his time in the military were fond memories he often reflected upon throughout his life. Rodolfo attended Our Lady of the Lake University earning a bachelor's degree in sociology and then furthering his education with a master's degree in education at Antioch University. He was a stern but caring man who showed compassion in his role of many years with employment at the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department. Rodolfo also spent time nurturing our youth through his work as a substitute teacher with the San Antonio Independent School District.
To those who knew him he was a generous man with his support, encouragement, and guidance. He guided troubled youth through his counseling, coaching and teaching. His life's work was guiding adolescents to a better path in life. He was a devout Catholic all his life and dedicated prayer of the Rosary. In his free time, he enjoyed woodwork and reading and was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
A great pleasure in his life, together with his wife Carmen, was supporting their children in sports —running from one game to the next, year-round, while serving as coach for many teams. He continued to enjoy hearing the successes of his grandsons Adam and Alex in their dedicated sports as well as Franco's successes in developing his oratory and theater skills and Bruno's successes in learning the tuba and bass.
He is preceded in death by his biological parents, Florentina Bautista and George Martinez; his adopted parents, Maria Solis and Leandro Rodriguez; sister Lupe Rodgers; adopted sisters, Alice Contreras and Carmen Vasquez.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen Reyes Rodriguez; children, Robert Rodriguez, Rudy Rodriguez (Kelly), Tammy Rodriguez Ruano (JR), Ralph Rodriguez; grandkids, Adam Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Franco Ruano, Bruno Ruano, siblings Sophie, Estella, and George; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, November 20, 2022 , at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm .
