Obituary

Rodolfo "Rudy" C. Silva peacefully went home to the Lord on February 20, 2023 at the age of 83 surrounded by the love of God and his family. He was born in Fentress, Texas on January 13, 1940.

Rudy Sr. went to Sydney Lanier High School and served as Cadet Lieutenant Colonel of the Jr. Reserve Officer Training Corps. Following his graduation from Lanier, he proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany just before the Berlin Wall was raised. Shortly after, Rudy Sr. left the Army to care for his sick and elderly parents. Upon his return to the United States, he met Mary Ann Silva and the two were wed on July 10, 1965. They went on to have three beautiful children. Rudy Sr. graduated from St. Phillip's College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, becoming a first-generation college graduate, paving the way for future generations to pursue higher education. After graduating from college, Rudy Sr. went on to work for the United States Government and retired in 2006. After his retirement, he went on to work for the City of San Antonio as a VIA Metropolitan Transit System Bus Driver.

Rudy Sr. was a man who valued hard work, his family, and his faith in the Lord. He was known for his sense of humor, his wit, and his love for country and western films and music. He loved his wife's cooking and always kept her smiling and laughing with his comical ways.

Rudy Sr. is preceded in death by his brother Armando Silva, his sister Rosalinda Castro, and his grandson Jesus Rodolfo Silva.

Rudy Sr. is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary Ann Silva, his three children Rudy Silva Jr., Paul Silva, and Sandra Garza, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, five nieces, and his nephew.

The sacrifices Rudy Sr. made for his family will not be forgotten. They are reflected in his children and grandchildren, creating a tradition of stability and vitality that will live on for generations. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and is now walking peacefully with the Lord.
