Obituary

Roger Pacheco Vanegas was born in San Antonio on October 9, 1939 and was called to be with our Lord on January 26, 2024 at 84 years old. He was surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.

Roger married his "Honey" Elida M. Vanegas on November 9, 1963. He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Melchora Vanegas, wife Elida M. Vanegas, brothers Ruben, Jesse and Herbert Vanegas. He is survived by his sister Maria Elena "Bay" Vanegas and his children Arlene V. Limon, Jeannette V. Valentine (Nick), David M. Vanegas (Betty), Orlando M. Vanegas, Roger M. Vanegas Jr. and Grandchildren Frank V. Lopez III (Candace), Savannah Limon, Victoria Limon, HB Brown, Ashlynn Brown, Emma Valentine, Jacob Valentine, David Jr. Vanegas (Krystyn), Dylan Vanegas, Isaiah Vanegas, Priscilla F, Moses Vanegas, Ryanna Vanegas, Johnathan Vanegas, Sofia Vanegas, Vinny Vanegas and Great Grandchildren Frank Lopez IV , Ariyah Vanegas, Bryanna Waterman, Jadon Waterman, Angelina Waterman and brother in law Alex Morales (Mary) along with many nieces and nephews and friends.

Roger grew up in the Southside, he went to Harlandale High School. He worked in the cotton fields at a very young age when he was a boy. He learned early how to earn and save. He Retired at age 62, Profession Commercial Painter.

Roger had impeccable style, he always dressed sharply favoring pressed shirts and pants, fedora hats and caps. He liked to watch Sunday Football and of course was a Dallas Cowboys Fan (Go Cowboys). He was well known by his Emerald Green 1977 Lincoln Continental, always shiney and clean. He also loved to shoot pool and his favorite game was Chess (almost unbeatable) and Dominos.

Roger loved, cared and always provided the best for his family. He instilled great values to his children to be responsible, independent and to always have excellent work ethic. He enjoyed family gatherings, home cooked meals and occasional dining out. He'd never hesitate to help others when asked for a helping hand from family and friends.
