Obituary

Roland Jesse Guillen went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2022, at the age of 23.

Roland was born on November 2, 1998, in San Antonio, Texas to his parents Roberto B. and Rosa Maria Guillen. His parents provided him and his three siblings a loving and nurturing home which really shaped him into the kind and gentle person he was in life. He and his girlfriend Sarahi Ortiz shared a deep and personal relationship; a bond created from the moment they met. He had a sweet spot for animals most especially for his cat Bruno. Roland enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversations, making someone smile, and feeling hopeful for the future of those he knew and loved.

He graduated from the International School of the Americas in 2017. He then became a HVAC Technician with employment at Urban Heating & Air Conditioning. He was a very talented gamer playing call of duty and war zone online with his friends and brother. Roland was a wonderful man with a heart of gold. He had his whole life ahead of him, he was our shining star, that faded too soon.

He inspired those around him to be better individuals. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds. He was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Roland loved when family and friends would get together for holidays or to share stories and memories. His big, beautiful smile, his curly hair, hearing him say "I love you", the immense love and the gestures of affection that were felt every day in his time with us will never be forgotten. Those times and moments exist in our memories and will be cherished forever.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Pedro Jesus Solis and Great Grandmother, Maria Del Refugio Medina.

He is survived by his parents, Rosa Maria and Roberto B. Guillen; siblings, Roberto Guillen Jr. (Tina M), Roxanne Guillen-Ochoa (David L.), Roseanne Celeste Guillen; girlfriend, Sarahi Ortiz; maternal grandmother, Maria D. Solis; paternal Grandparents, Francisco Guillen Alvarez and Irene B. Guillen; nieces and nephews, Esmeralda Y. Guillen, Andrew J. Guillen-Ochoa, Aaron I. Guillen, Caleb J. Guillen-Ochoa, Levi J. Guillen-Ochoa; his pet cat Bruno; in addition to numerous and extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Castillo Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 10:00 am Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment to follow at San Fernando II Catholic Cemetery.

On April 21, 2022, Roland wrote: "When we lose people that are close to us it's okay to be sad but you always have to keep moving forward. Because even though they might not be with us now, we have to live our own life. So, when the time comes we get to tell them all about it, when we see them again."

When I go, don't learn to live without me, just learn to live with my love in a different way. And if you need to see me, close your eyes, or look in your shadow when the sun shines. I'm there. Sit with me in the quiet and you will know, that I did not leave. There is no leaving when a soul is blended with another. When I go, don't learn to live without me, just learn to look for me In the moments. I will be there."
