Roland Richard Hernandez Sr, 47, husband of Lizette Hernandez, went to be with the Lord on December 3, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on February 10, 1976, in San Antonio, Texas, a son of Diane Hernandez and Severiano Cavazos.

He lived a life guided by love, faith, and family.

As a son and brother, he was respectful and attentive, taking care of those who always took care of him. As a husband, he was loving and protective, always valuing the needs of his wife above his own. As a father, he was the best any child could ask for, always present and actively involved.

He was known for his dedication to his family, selfless heart, always joking around and had a huge heart for his pets especially his best friend Smokey, and a huge fan of the Washington Redskins. His life was an example of goodness, and he was a joy to those who knew him. Roland is remembered and cherished by his family and community for the love that he had and his generosity of spirit. He will be missed until we are all reunited once again.

Roland is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tony Hernandez and Elena Hernandez.

Family members include his wife of 22 years, Lizette Hernandez; children, Deandra Chassidy Hernandez, Roland Richard Hernandez Jr, Andrew Brian Hernandez and Derrick Christopher Hernandez; parents, Diane Hernandez and Severiano Cavazos; siblings, John Anthony Cavazos, Elizabeth Ann Garcia (Justin Garcia), Anna Marie Cavazos (Andrew Pena) and Debra Elena Cavazos (Justin Salazar); 16 nieces and nephews; in addition to numerous extended family members.

The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a Rosary Service.

A funeral mass will be conducted on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 10:00 am in St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow the church mass with a graveside service at San Fernando Cemetery III.
