Ronald William Rodgers
Ron, age 57, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026 surrounded by his family. Born on October 25, 1968 in San Antonio, TX, Ron was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and gramps. He knew no strangers and touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his inviting smile and warm laughter.
Most importantly, Ron was a devoted man of God and made it his personal mission to tell everyone he came across about the many miracles God had performed in his life. On July 4, 2008,Ron was saved by God’s grace while living in the Outcry in the Barrio Home and has always given Jesus Christ all the honor, all the praise, and all the glory for the salvation of his soul and the forgiveness of his sins.
In his younger days, Ron worked with his uncle at the family-owned Elizondo’s Print shop. He then spent several years working at the State Hospital and then landed in sales, which brought him great joy. He was a natural born salesman. Outside of work, Ron took great pride in serving as a greeter at Metanoya Church, mentoring the men at the Outcry in the Barrio Home, and enjoyed trying new recipes and restaurants. However, his most joyous moments were those spent laughing and enjoying his family, alongside his wife Melinda.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melinda Rodgers; his siblings,Cynthia Rodgers, Brenda Rodgers, and Nathan Rodgers; his children, Celeste Cervantes (Christopher), Ronald Rodgers (Robyn), Ryan Rodgers (Ileana), Ashlyn Rodgers (Andreas Kleck), Theodore Perez, Jessica Gonzales (Roger), Joy Perez (Edward Reyes); his nine grandchildren, Olivia and Dominic Cervantes, Gabriella Rodgers, Matthew, Michael, and Chloe Brookbank, James Morales, Scarlett Alderete, and Scarlett Reyes and his honorary granddaughter, Eliyana Alvarado.
He is preceded in death by his mother Sylvia Rodgers and his father Robert Rodgers.
The Outcry in the Barrio Home held a very special place in Ron’s life. If you would like to make a donation to the home on his behalf, please do so on the Metanoya Website and select ‘OUTCRY’ under the fund category.
Titus 3:5-7 – He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 6 p.m. at the Castillo Mission Funeral Home Chapel G1. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Metanoya Church, 2101 Buena Vista, Friday, October 16, 2026, at 12 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Outcry Home, 1003 SW 38th St.
