Rosa Maria Cruz de Contreras was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grand mother, sister, and loyal friend. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she left this world on February 27, 2021, at the age of 69.
Rosa was born in Las Negritas, Guadalcazar, San Luis Potosi, Mexico on August 30, 1951. At the age of eighteen (18), she migrated to the United States in search of a better life for herself and family.
One of the main joys in her life was spending time and making memories with all her loved ones, especially with her grandkids and great grandchildren. Her hobbies included gardening and tending to her flowers and plants and watching them blossom throughout the year. She also had a fondness for animals and loved taking care of her pet parakeets and parrots. More than occasionally, you could find her enjoying one of her favorite pastimes at the local bingo hall. She was a hard worker and even after retirement, still worked to stay active and productive. She was the centerpiece and rock of our family and will be dearly missed forever. As a family, we pray for comfort and guidance to learn how to live our daily lives with her absence. Our assurance is our faith and her belief in the salvation of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Jose & Hipolita Cruz; sister, Vicenta Cruz Garcia; and beloved son's Raul and Ediy Contreras.
She is survived by her spouse of 51 years, Florentino Contreras. Her legacy includes her children: son Florentino Contreras Jr and his wife, Adriana Contreras; daughter Catherine Gonzalez; daughter Dionicia Fidencia Alvarez and her husband, Felix Alvarez; son Arturo Contreras; son Rudy Contreras; and son Jose Contreras and his wife, Laura Contreras. She was blessed with 19 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Rosa's siblings include Federico Cruz, Antonio Cruz, Angelita Cruz, Simon Cruz, Eduardo Cruz, and Cesareo Cruz.
