Rose M. Cortinas was called home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2023 at the blessed age of 83. She was surrounded by her loving family who will miss her tremendously. She was born November 22, 1939 in San Antonio Texas to the late Amparo and Feliciano Alvarado and is preceded in death by her Aunt Christella Moreno and brothers, Felix Alvarado and Carlos Alvarado. Rose is survived by her sons Mark A. Cortinas Sr. (Minerva Cortinas) and Joseph David Cortinas Sr. (M. Yvette Cortinas) 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, brothers Michael Alvarado Sr. and Victor Alvarado Sr.

She was part of the last graduating class from Our Lady of the Lake High School in 1957. She enjoyed listening to Tejano music and dancing well into her 80th birthday, with her friends over the years. Rose began her Federal Civil Service career at Kelly AFB, and retired at Fort Sam Houston in 1994 with over 30 years of service. In her retirement she made many memories and enjoyed spending quality time with her sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.

Rose lived her life with unconditional love, and was dedicated to her family. Most precious to Rose was her faith in God. John 11:25-26 "Jesus told her I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die."
