Rosie
Cox
July 24, 1952 – February 8, 2020
On Saturday, February 8, 2020, Rosie Cox passed away peacefully at home at the age of 67.
Rosie was born on July 24, 1952 in San Antonio, Texas to Robert and Carmen Mata. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1971. In the summer of 1975 she married Richard L. Cox. Together they had a son, Rick.
Rosie was an avid animal lover and doted on her cat, Patches. She also loved to follow the exploits of her granddogs.
Rosie was fiercely loyal to her family and had unofficially adopted many people into her circle. She made it a point to call or message everyone in her circle on their birthday and other special days.
She also loved to cook, and enjoyed cooking special meals for birthdays and holidays. Her son's friends remember Rosie welcoming them into her home and treating them like her own family.
She had a? keen interest in old movies, and had an almost encyclopedic knowledge regarding the movies she loved and those that starred in them. When visiting Rosie in San Antonio, no need to use a map or GPS, as Rosie knew every street and neighborhood in spite of her failing eyesight, and always knew the best way to get there.
Rosie was preceded in death by her father, Robert Mata. She is survived by her mother, Carmen, her son Rick (Robyn), brothers Robert, Roy (Elsa), Richard, sister Rachel (Jesse), her niece Krystle (Casey), nephews Corey (Cynthia) ,Zach, Nick and Jarred and great nephews, (Joshua, Jason and Ryen) and great nieces (Meagan (Kristopher) and Allie).
Rosie will be missed by friends and family all over. She had an amazing ability to connect with people everywhere she was present. She stayed connected with her friends in Iowa, and made friends at dialysis, in her apartment complex, and even on Facebook. Thank you all for being a part of her life.
