Ruben
Arocha
October 14, 1948 – March 26, 2025
On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Ruben Briones Arocha, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend, was called home by our Heavenly Father at the age of 76. Ruben entered eternal peace surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Ruben was born in San Antonio, Texas, on October 14, 1948, to his parents, Raul (Sr,) and Olivia B. Arocha. In 1968, Ruben graduated from Brackenridge High School. Following in his father's footsteps, he joined the United States Navy in 1969. While in the Navy, he courageously went to Vietnam and worked on a Navy hospital ship, caring for the needs of others. Ruben returned to the United States in 1971 and married his high school sweetheart Gloria.
On May 1, 1971, Ruben and Gloria married and were blessed with four beautiful children, Jennifer, Andrew, Michael, and Matthew. In July of 1979, Ruben's life was forever changed when the Grace of God saved him. He became a faithful servant of the Lord and was committed to sharing the word of God with everyone.
While being a devoted husband and father, Ruben worked for CPS Energy Company starting in December of 1972. He was a committed CPS employee for 31 years and retired from his position as a foreman in 2004. Ruben loved to stay busy after retirement. He took extra jobs as a shuttle bus driver to Methodist Hospital, auction car driver, and car wash manager.
In March of 2009, Ruben became an ordained minister. He was profoundly committed to the Lord and believed God's love and mercy was for everyone. He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. Ruben dedicated himself to spreading the word of God to all who listened.
Of all the titles Ruben was blessed with, "Dad" and "Grandpa", were his most treasured. Ruben, alongside his wife, took great pride in their family. He left behind a legacy of love for our Heavenly Father, that will carry on for eternity.
Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, Raul (Sr.) and Olivia B. Arocha, and siblings Raul Arocha Jr. (Rita-deceased), and Olivia Zapata (Mario-deceased). Ruben is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Gloria Arocha, children Jennifer Aken (Jonathan), Andrew Arocha (Virginia), Michael Arocha (Jill), and Matthew Arocha, grandchildren Joshua Aken (Rachel), Coryn Aken, Graciela Arocha, David Arocha, and great-granddaughter Jenavieve Aken (May 2025), siblings Hortencia Rios (Serapio), Albert Arocha, Leroy Arocha, MaryEsther Juarez and (best friend) Tony Delpui.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the outpouring of love, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time, including all the prayers, cards, flowers, and expressions of sympathy
