Obituary

Ruben Castillo, born November 1, 1941, passed away to be with the Lord at the age of 83 on May 8th, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of his beloved family.

Born in Romita, Guanajuato, Mexico, Ruben worked tirelessly to care for his family, even bringing them to the United States for a better life. As a handyman, he worked in all manners of construction giving him the skills and strength he used to build a home for his family. Always looking for his next project, Ruben was pleased to offer his help and expertise to his family in any way he could.

When he was not working, Ruben enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He would take his children camping, to the park to play sports, and to the beach. Ruben would often hold cookouts to bring family together whether for birthdays, holidays, or simply a love of bringing family together. Always wanting to see his family smiling, Ruben would lovingly joke with and tease his children and grandchildren.

Ruben loved boxing, fishing, camping, playing guitar, and singing. Whenever possible, he would share these passions with others whether it be singing karaoke or with mariachi, sharing stories of his boxing days, or teaching someone a new skill. A devout Catholic, he regularly attended mass and shared his love of guitar and singing with the community by performing with the choir.

Ruben Castillo was preceded in death by his brother, Jesus Castillo; his sister, Loreto Castillo; his father, Anastacio Castillo; and mother, Coleta Castro. He is succeeded by his spouse, Maria Castillo, of 63 years; his 6 children- Juana Martinez, Maria Elena Lara, Cruz Castillo, Alicia Alonzo, Fernando Castillo, and Anastacio Castillo; his 24 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren. He is and forever will be loved and admired.
