Ruben R. Perez III passed away on June 24, 2022, at the age of 46.

Ruben was born on October 14, 1975, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Mary Yolanda and Ruben R. Perez Jr. He graduated from St. Gerald High School in 1994. He worked at the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center as a guard for many years. He would help at the family business, Ruben's Homemade Tamales, any time he was needed.

Ruben was an avid and excellent pool player and especially enjoyed teaching his nephews. He was incredibly knowledgeable about vehicles. He enjoyed working on older model cars in his free time. He was also a proud member of the STFTM, South Texas Ford Trucks Mafia. Ruben enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversations, making someone smile, and feeling hopeful for the future of those he knew.

He inspired those around him to be better individuals. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds. He was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Ruben loved when family and friends would get together. Those times exist in our memories and will be cherished forever. As the greatest role model we knew, he will be missed tremendously.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruben R Perez Jr and Mary Yolanda Rios Perez.

He is survived by his sister, Norma Yolanda Casias; brother-in-law, David Casias; niece, Valerie Casias; nephews, David Casias Jr. and Isaiah Perez-Casias; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Castillo Funeral Home from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. All services will conclude on Friday.
