Obituary

Rudolph Montana, 67, husband of Sandra A. Montana, went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on August 27, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas, a son of the late Julia Montana.

Rudolph lived a life guided by the remarkable love he had for his family, his dedication to everything he set his mind on and his faith in the Lord.

He was a proud United States Marine veteran who carried the morals and values instilled in him at that time for the remainder of his life. Prior to his retirement he invested 20+ years with the San Antonio Express Newspaper and 12+ years truck driving known to be a valuable team member with skill and experience.

His qualities were ones to admire; the way he could plan trips with no detail spared as he took the family on road trips to places like Galveston or Corpus Christi or visiting extended family. His support was felt deeply be it his family or his favorite football teams the Miami Dolphins and the San Francisco 49ers. His many talents to include his upholstery work. His ability to communicate with everyone and strike up a conversation with anyone was a confidence hard to match. His greatest joy was the quality time spent with his family and grandkids knowing all along they were moments that would be treasured for all time.

Family members remain strong because of the sure and certain faith that we will all be reunited someday once again. Many thanks go out to the San Antonio Veterans Memorial Hospital's Doctors and nurses for the care of Rudolph in his final days.

In addition to his mother Julia Montana, he is also preceded in death by his sister, Dora Sepulveda and mother-in-law, Margarita Almaguer; and his dog Murray.

Family members include his wife of 46 years, Sandra Almaguer Montana; children, Rudolph Anthony (Shannon), Vincent, Crystal (Joseph), Patrick (Valerie) and Carlos (Clarissa); 8 grandchildren; a brother, George (Yolanda) Calderon; his dog Ozzy; and numerous extended family members and friends met along the way.

The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a rosary service.

A chapel service will be conducted on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 10:00 am in the Castillo Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow with a graveside ceremony in San Fernando Cemetery III.
