Obituary

Rudy was the last survivor of the 13 children born to Manuel Almaguer Sr. and Aguedita Villarreal Almaguer. He graduated from De Zavala Elementary School, Rhodes Jr. High and Sidney Lanier High School in 1959 where he lettered in varsity football for 3 years. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1965.

He was in sales at numerous furniture stores, owned his own furniture store for 10 years and retired as a sales representative for Imperial Bedding In South Texas and Mexico.

He met the love of his life and soul mate while both were in the 5 th grade. Yolanda Montez and Rudy married at St. Paul Catholic Church on July 6, 1963.

Rudy is survived by his wife Yolanda, sons Stephen Wayne and Jeffrey Thomas, grandson Anthony Michael Almaguer and an abundance of nephews and nieces.

He enjoyed traveling anywhere he could find a casino or horse racing; this included trips to Alaska, Hawaii, cruises to the Caribbean, Las Vegas and even Kickapoo! As Vice-President of the Lanier Fabulous Fifties Club, Rudy was instrumental in helping raise funds to support organizations at Lanier High School as well as for scholarships. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 2.

His sense of humor, sincere empathy and ability to show God's love to both family and friends has earned Rudy his wings in heaven. Knowing him will leave a lasting impression in your heart.
