July 31, 1943 – January 9, 2021
Our beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather Rudy M. Gonzalez was called home on January 9th, 2021. He left peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family.
Rudy was 77 years old, he was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 31, 1943. He graduated from Lanier High School and later served honorably in the Army Reserves .
In the fall of 1963 he married his high school sweetheart, Irma R. Gonzalez, and together they formed an inseparable bond and created a beautiful family and marriage for the 57 years they spent together. He loved his profession as an expert butcher for which he worked most of his adult life and retired from Texas Meat Purveyors. He later realized his dream of owning his own meat market (Nuevo Leon Meat Market) from which he serviced many local restaurants throughout San Antonio. Rudy was a hard working family man and took great pride in his work.
Rudy created and treasured so many loving memories with his family. He loved to barbecue and was a loyal ☆Dallas Cowboys☆ fan. He enjoyed spending quality time with family, road trips and casinos.
Rudy is preceded in death by his father Rodolfo Gonzalez, mother Amelie Gonzalez, brothers (Infant) NNG Gonzalez, Hector Gonzalez, Raymond Gonzalez, sister Linda Birinyi, and his beloved grandchild Ethan Alexander Torres.
Rudy is loved dearly and will be missed by his son Rudy Gonzalez Jr. (Eva), daughters Veronica Gonzalez (John), Patricia Torres
(Edwin) and Katherine Gonzalez
(Robert); 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 3pm until 7:30pm with a Rosary to begin at 6pm. Family and friends will depart Castillo Mission Funeral Home in procession at 9am on Saturday, January 23, 2021 for a 10am Funeral Mass at The Basilica of the Little Flower Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South.
