Ruth B. Cervantes entered Eternal Rest on June 3, 2024 surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. She was 86 years old. She was born on November 1, 1937 in her beloved hometown of San Antonio, Texas; she was the ninth of ten children born to Rufina and Dionisio Bernal.

On a warm fiesta evening at the carnival she met Enrique Cervantes. They fell in love and were married August 1, 1960. They delighted in their union for 58 years raising six children and one granddaughter. Ruth was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved crocheting, crafting, and doing word search puzzles. She was a BIG fan of the San Antonio Spurs.

Ruth was a confident, strong woman, who enjoyed her life with great energy, intense curiosity, good humor and a profound love for family and friends. Ruth's passing has left a void in the lives of all who knew her.  Her warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of many. Ruth had an unwavering love for her family and friends that was evident in everything that she did.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Enrique Cervantes Sr. and son-in-law, Hector Lira in 2018. She is survived by her children; Enrique Cervantes Jr. (Maria), Esmeralda Lira, Ernesto Cervantes Sr. (Alicia), Emma Evelyn Estrada, Eliza Leija Garcia (Richard), Eva Stevenson (Travis), granddaughter Erika Cervantes (Richard); 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation services will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on June 9, 2024 from 4PM to 8PM with Prayer Service at 6PM.
