Ruth Galan
Martinez
September 8, 1938 – February 10, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth Galan Martinez, beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She left us peacefully on the evening of February 10th at the age of 86. She was surrounded by those who she cared for most while holding the hands of her two granddaughters.
Born on September 8th, 1938, Ruth was the oldest of four siblings and embodied the strength and wisdom that comes with being the matriarch of a close-knit family. She was the cornerstone of the family, guiding and supporting her siblings, son, and granddaughters with grace, love, and conviction.
She was the devoted wife of George G. Martinez, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful family, full of laughter, compassion, and shared memories. Ruth was a proud mother to her son George IV, and Daughter-in-law Mary, and a deeply loving grandmother to Melody and Candace. She is survived by her youngest sibling, Clemente Galan, with whom she shared a special bond of love and companionship. Together, they supported and cared for one another through life's joys and challenges.
Known for her sharp tongue and gentle touch, Ruth possessed a unique ability to speak her mind with honesty and directness, while also offering warmth and tenderness when needed most. She advocated for herself in every aspect of her life, from her personal relationships tothe challenges she faced, always standing strong and resilient. She instilled in her son and granddaughters the importance of speaking up, standing firm, and never settling for less than they deserved.
A woman who found peace in the simple pleasures of life, Ruth had a deep love for tending to her plants. As long as she was able, she could always be found in her garden, nurturing her beloved plants with care and dedication. The growth of each flower and the vitality of her greenery reflected her own nurturing spirit, as she poured love into both her family and the world around her.
In addition to her love for plants,- Ruth was known for her passion for shopping. Whether it was hunting for a great bargain or simply strolling through her favorite stores, she delighted in the thrill of finding that perfect item. Shopping was more than just a hobby for her, it was a way to
enjoy the little things in life, and she always had a keen eye for something special.
At the core of Ruth's life was her unwavering faith in God. Her relationship with God was the foundation upon which she built her life, and it shone through in everything she did. Her faith was a guiding light, and she drew strength from her belief, always trusting in God's plan for her and her family. Her love for God and the peace she found in His presence shaped her character, and she passed on her spiritual wisdom to all who knew her.
As the matriarch of her family, she led with fierce love, teaching the values of kindness, resilience, and family unity. Her legacy of wisdom and love will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
Ruth leaves behind a legacy that will be carried on by her family, who will forever cherish the countless beautiful moments she gave them. While she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that her love and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held on February 24th 2025 at Castillo Funeral Home at 6pm. Which will be followed by a short reception at the Martinez residence.
Rest in peace, dear Ruth, your love, wisdom, nurturing spirit, and steadfast faith will always be with us. As you join the rest of your family in heaven; We Love You.
