Samuel Ramon Castro (Sam), 69, of San Antonio, TX., passed away January 7, 2022.  He was born on February 13, 1952, in San Buenaventura, Mexico, the son of Anastacio Castro and Maria Carmen Galvan.

In his early years, Samuel worked in the construction industry as a concrete laborer which was a trade taught to him and his brothers by his father Anastacio. Samuel enjoyed working in the construction field until he became disabled in 1985.

After retiring from construction due to his disability, Mr. Castro enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  He enjoyed being home with his wife, children and grandchildren listening to Tejano music while barbecuing and enjoying a cold one. Sam would wake up, put on his cowboy gear including boots and cowboy hat and sit on his front porch with the music on full blast. That's how neighbors knew Sam was up ready to enjoy his day.

Mr. Castro was loved by his family, friends, and neighbors. Those who knew him well would say that he was always there to help others especially his children. He leaves lasting memories and will be greatly missed by us all.

Samuel is preceded in death by his parents, Anastacio Castro and Maria Carmen Galvan, Siblings: Lydia Hernandez, Yolanda Hernandez, Lorenza Castro, Ricardo Castro, Neptalin Castro, Roberto Castro, and Anastacio Castro.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Blanca Espinoza Castro, Siblings:  Elizabeth (Licha) Ayala (Eugenio), & Bertha Garcia (Jesus), Children:  Samuel Castro Jr. (Betty), Mark Anthony Castro, Michael Ramon Castro, Francisco Maldonado, Monica Castro (Leroy), and Amy Castro (Fernando), Grandchildren: 26 & Great-grandchildren: 11

A visitation will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. Family and friends will meet for the funeral mass to be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10:00 am. All services will conclude after the funeral mass.
