San Silbestre "Richard" Ramos was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 27, 2021 at the blessed age of 81. He was born December 30, 1939 in San Antonio, TX to Atilano and Angelita Ramos. He is reunited in heaven with his parents. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his children Richard Ramos (Peggy), Rose Marie Cortez, Sally Apaez (Mario), San Silbestre Ramos, Jr. (LeRoy Jaramillo), Brenda Brown, Gina Luree Ramos (Raymond Sanchez), Jennifer Vanee' Ramos; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Atilano Ramos, Jr., Mary Ann Lucio; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Heaven has gained our most beloved blessing. He will live forever in our hearts.

Richard spent much of his life opening local restaurants (Jim's and Denny's) as a cook throughout San Antonio. Some of his greatest stories were telling his children and friends that he was one of the head cooks that opened the Tower of Americas in 1968. In 1975, Richard and Ida Ramos opened El Torero Restaurant on the Southside of San Antonio, where he served some of the best Seafood and Mexican food in town for over 18 years. From 1994 to his retirement he worked at the Hilton where he was their head caterer and was often seen on the front page of the San Antonio Express News Metro section during Cowboy breakfast time serving food for thousands of people. He was an avid golfer and loved the time he spent with his friends on the golf course as a member of the Pan American Golf Association.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Castillo's Mission Funeral Home from 8:00am to 10:00am. Rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 10:00am at Castillo's Mission Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 11:00am. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery III.
