Sandra
Carreon
October 9, 1966 – February 12, 2022
Sandra Carreon Valverde, age 55, passed away February 12, 2022. She was born October 9, 1966 in San Antonio, Texas to Ruben and Elisa Valverde. Her spirit is carried on by her two children, three grandchildren, three surviving siblings and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.
Sandra was affectionately known as Na-Na, Ya-Ya, Luhan, Sister, Tia, and Auntie by family she cared for. In her desire to love on people she would often call her loved ones and look for ways to tangibly show she cared. One of those ways was gift giving. Her hands wouldn't sit still until everyone had a gift on late or not. You may read this and recall, oh yeah Tia did get me that gift…
Sandra had a lifelong love for culinary arts which included making a spicy Spanish rice, deviled eggs, lasagna, potato salad, and Salsa (sale-saw as she would say). For excursions she enjoyed going out to eat or fishing. Her father Ruben Valverde taught her the intricacies of fishing where she took pride in each catch no matter how big or small. In her spare time, she was likely catching the Spurs or Cowboys play at a family BBQ or was on her way to Bob Halls pier for coastal fishing. Sandra followed her passion for helping others by being a teachers aid at daycares to getting her degree to be a CNA. Sandra was always giving it her best to be there for not only her patients but her family and friends, even if it was just to listen and be there.
Sandra is survived by her children: daughter Vanessa and Julian Villa, and son Greg and Rebecca Valverde; Siblings: her brothers Fernando Valverde and Rosie Mendoza, Joseph and Connie Valverde, and sister Dorothy and Richard Martinez; Grandchildren: Scarlette McClain, Tristian Villa, Liam Valverde, and her many nephews and nieces. All whom she loved deeply.
Please join us celebrating her life Wednesday March 2, 2022, between 4 pm — 8pm (Rosary at 6pm) at Castillo Mission Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen Drive San Antonio, TX 78228.
