Obituary

Santiago Salazar, age 85, passed away on July 3rd 2020.  Mr. Salazar was born June 9th, 1935. He was born in Eagle Pass TX. and raised in Crystal City TX. The family finally moved in the mid 1950's to their home on Buena Vista St. on the west side of San Antonio TX.

Mr. Salazar was employeed in a variety of jobs and a very hands-on worker acquiring several skills. His children often liked to refer to him as the TV character "McGuyver" for his multi-talented skills at fixing almost anything. He was employed at his last job for 37 years until retiring in 2001 from the Southwest Research Institute.

Mr. Salazar and his wife were faithful Christians and enjoyed participating in their church children's instruction and activities as well as serving in various church positions. Their familes were introduced to the Church of God 7th Day in the mid 1940's and received baptism a few years thereafter.

He met his future wife, Felicitas Solis, while in their teens and eventually married while in their twenties.  He is survived by 7 children; Santiago Jr., Stephen (Cynthia), Priscilla (Ruben) Marquez, Diana (Samuel) Ramirez, Isaac (Maria), Virginia (Menjivar), Ishmael (Erica). 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. Brothers, Juan "John" Salazar and Rogelio "Roger" (Maria J.) Salazar. Brother in law Juan Castellanos & Sisters in law Lidia P. Salazar, Petra S. Salazar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Felicitas S. Salazar, grand daughter Diana H. Ramirez, siblings, Arnulfo Salazar Jr., Paula S. Castellanos, Raymundo Salazar. Also his parents Arnulfo S. Salazar Sr. and Isabella C. Salazar. In addition other survivors include cousins, numerous nephews and nieces and a larger extended family, friends and fellow church members.

The Family would like to thank Joann C., his provider, for her care and attention to "grandpa", Vitas Hospice and their nurses Ron, Liz and personal attendant Johnny. Plus their other personnel whom were on call 24 hours if needed. Also a special thank you to the Church of God 7th Day Ceralvo St. and to Pastor Abel Salazar and his wife, Eva, for their assistance and counsel. Thank you all very much and the Lord bless each and every one of you.

*IMPORTANT** the family would like to emphasize the following instructions.

Due to the restraints placed by Health, State and City Authorities for the prevention and spread of Covid-19 we are asked to limit or restrict visitors to 25 persons and shorten visiting hours. Masks or face coverings are also required. Temperatures will also be monitored at the entrances.

We hope you understand our concerns for the health and safety of everyone in these trying times and that we adhere to these restraints. The family will try and provide video feed and or recorded video of the service for a safe distant and personal viewing if you prefer.
