Sarah C. Castañeda
August 21, 1938 – December 24, 2024
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Sarah C. Castañeda, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, December 24th, 2024, at the blessed age of 86.
Sarah was born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 21st, 1938, to Juan M. Chavez and Isabel G. Chavez. She was a proud member of the Sidney Lanier High School Class of '56. After high school, Sarah pursued a career in nursing and retired from the nursing profession at the age of 70.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Juan M. Chavez and Isabel G. Chavez; her husband, John G. Castañeda; her brothers, Juan M. Chavez Jr. and Ernesto Chavez; her sister, Eloise C. Rocha; her nieces, Mary Jane Chavez and Terry Morales; and her nephew, Robert C. Morales.
She will be missed dearly by her children: Catherine Castañeda, John Castañeda (Laurie), Joann Almaraz (Danny), and Laura Castañeda (Gilbert Mendiola); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings: Julia Morales (Robert), Louis Chavez, Joe Chavez, Isabel C. Salazar (Carlos), and Jesse G. Chavez (Gloria); her best friend, Mickey Zaragoza; her good friends, Luisa Jacob and the staff at Piedras Negras De Noche.
