Seferino P. Villarreal Jr.

December 19, 1938 - April 21st, 2026

Seferino P Villarreal Jr, dearly beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at home in San Antonio, TX on April 21, 2026.

He is preceded in his passing by his father, Seferino Villarreal Sr, and beloved stepmother, Elvira F. Villarreal and is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Ma. Soledad Villarreal; his son Seferino Villarreal III and wife Lilis, son Alberto Alejandro Villarreal and wife Judy, son Miguel Angel Villarreal, and son Victor Hugo Villarreal and wife Sandra; as well as six grandchildren, Juliana, Mickey, Alex, Alexa, Lilian, and Violet, one great-grandchild, little Riley, along with many extended family and friends in San Antonio, Texas and in Monterrey, Mexico.

Seferino was a graduate of Fox Tech High School where he learned and excelled in Drafting. He was drafted into the Army in the early 1960s and while stationed in Germany he also traveled throughout Europe. He learned Cartography in the Army and further honed his drafting skills. Through varied post-secondary coursework, he earned several certifications, becoming knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects such as lapidary and further grew his cartography expertise. He spent over 20 years in civil service with the Defense Mapping Agency under the Department of Defense, making notable contributions to the Desert Storm and Desert Shield campaigns. During this time, he was also a part-time small business owner and operator. After Civil Service retirement he worked for over 20 years in produce brokerage where he helped his various small business customers throughout the area to thrive and grow – many of whom remember him very fondly. He played the Spanish guitar and liked to collect coins, watch boxing, soccer, and the Spurs. Seferino liked to Bar-B-Que at home on weekends for his family and made delicious Shish Kabobs. But his greatest source of pride and joy was simply spending time with his wife, sons and grandchildren.

Seferino was an exemplary example of an utterly selfless, caring and loving Dad and Husband. An example that his sons refer to almost every day as fathers and husband themselves. He was equally an outstanding example of a true gentleman - someone instantly recognized as a likable person whom one would like to know, and even whose acknowledgement and respect one would like to seek and value.

Seferino was a humble man as well. He was happiest providing and reserving all for his family and only having the bare necessities for himself. Through a great deal of sacrifice, he was fully committed to a Catholic education for all four sons – with one son having graduated from St. Margaret Mary and three from St. Pius X School, then all four graduating from Central Catholic. His commitment enabled all four sons to earn various college degrees and to mature into responsible husbands, fathers and professionals.

He will be dearly missed. We are so thankful for the gifts he left us – his love and his far-reaching example covering most all facets of life. We were blessed to have him in our lives and are ever thankful to The Lord for letting us do so.
