Obituary

Silvestre Morado Castillo Jr. went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2022, at the age of 71, surrounded by family.

Silvestre was born on July 23, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Silvestre and Maria Castillo. His parents instilled in him, along with  his siblings, what would become the foundation for the incredible life he would live. As a teenager he helped provide for his family by picking crops, mostly tomatoes. Silvestre was a skilled plumber for much of his career until he officially retired. He was a jack of all trades, never one to shy away from the tough jobs in life. In retirement, he continued to keep busy by working on small projects around the house. If he wasn't repairing something, he was making something. Although starting to become frail, he was always there if needed. Saying "I can't do the work, but I can talk you through it." He would spend hours outside working on projects or coming up with things.

He would always make time to work on crossword puzzles. He would remind those around him how important they were, contributing to his "sharp mind". He enjoyed watching the news and staying on top of politics where he could spend hours talking to his children and those interested about his findings.

Anyone who knew Silvestre quickly recognized how deeply he truly loved his family. Silvestre was the proud father of Elisa, Gabriel, David, and Daniel who were the pride and joy of his life. He and his wife Oralia Martinez were able to share an eighteen-year marriage before his passing full of companionship and admiration. Silvestre enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversation, making someone smile, feeling hopeful for the future of those he knew. He inspired those around him to be better individuals. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds. He was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Silvestre will be missed tremendously but while life must end his love doesn't.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Silvestre Castillo and Maria Morado Castillo.

He is survived by his wife, Oralia Martinez; children, Elisa C. Resendiz (Patrick), Gabriel Castillo (Kristine), David Castillo (Aurora), and Daniel Castillo (Cynthia); grandchildren, Patrick Jr., Andrew (Brittany), Gabrielle (Brian), Steven Gage, Anthony Isaiah, Amber Nadine, David Jr., Gage Matthew, Emerald Lucille, Daniel Jr., Fabian, and Miguel; great grandchildren, Viktoria Amber, Andrew Isaiah Jr., Veronika Valentina, Kaden, Kaylee, and Josiah; siblings, Richard (Alice), Daniel (Eva), Socorro, and Lucia (Robert), in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Chapel service to begin at 6:00 pm. On Monday, August 22, 2022, a formal funeral procession will depart Castillo Funeral Home at 10:00 am for interment at San Fernando III Cemetery at 10:30 am.
