Lee Green
August 8, 1948 – December 11, 2022
Minnie Lee Green passed away peacefully on December 11th 2022 after a brief illness. She was 74 years old. She is reunited in heaven with her loving parents Eloise and Ed Green and siblings Alean Rodgers, Eddie Mae Roberson, James Green, Eloise Barnes, Ed Green Junior, Gregory Green and Dexter Green. She is survived by her loving wife Rita Smith, Sister Bertha Randall, loving children Richard, Stephanie and Charles, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless relatives and friends who loved her and will always cherish her memories.
She was born on August 8th, 1948, in Birmingham AL to Eloise and Ed Green. As a young adult, she enlisted in the United States Army serving as a medic for 20 yrs reaching the rank of Staff sergeant until retirement. She was proud of her time in the service for her country.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Lee. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending holidays and vacations with good company, good food, and some great laughs. She especially enjoyed playing drums and watching her favorite football team (Alabama Crimson Tides).
She touched the lives of so many people. She always was there for her numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as friends. Everyone knew that they could turn to her for advice or assistance, there was no judgement made. She enjoyed listening to music, watching sports, Domino's Pizza and watching Christmas movies.
In honor of her love for life and service to others, we ask anyone who remembers her to join us in celebration of her life by raising your favorite drink in her memory and doing an act of kindness to another.

"I'm Free"
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now; He set me free.
